I have spent my life at sea, feeling its changes with my whole body — the warming water, the shrinking catch.
“At this rate, the sea of Karatsu won’t be here for the next generation.” That sense of crisis is what set me in motion.
Instead of waiting for someone else to act, I decided to move first and bring the region along. Together with the city of Karatsu, we started a new challenge that unites fishers, researchers, and companies — innovation that goes beyond decarbonization to regenerate nature and truly bring the sea back.
Today, Karatsu is proof that even a small fishing village can change the future. That hope was born from the partners who stood up with us, the community that supported us, and the sea of Karatsu itself.
For the future of the sea, I will keep driving this nature-positive challenge from Karatsu with everything I have.
